The Product
The ReeferShield is a unique patented protective apparatus for refrigeration units of refrigerated semi-trailers. Those refrigeration units, known in the industry as “reefer units”, are of critical importance to the hundreds of thousands of trucks that transport food, beverages and other forms of temperature-sensitive cargo. Moreover, located at the nose of the trailer, the doors and panels of these large and expensive refrigeration units are vulnerable to a wide range of environmental hazards that can loosen them from the units. This presents enormous safety, liability and insurance issues for the owners and drivers of refrigerated semi-trailers.
A longtime semi-trailer driver himself, the inventor John Hadley recognized the need for improving the security of these often-shaky doors and panels, vulnerable as they are to heavy weather of various sorts and other environmental wear and tear. A lifelong innovator, Hadley proceeded to tinker with different ideas himself until he designed a system of protective straps that withstood his rigorous testing. The resulting innovation is now patented (US 10,882,440, B1: "securement apparatus for class 8 wide-body refrigeration units of refrigerated semi-trailers").
